TIP 2: Plan your activity in terms of your date's interests: If you know your date is athletic, they may be more adventurous with outdoor or physically involved activities. If they are a creative type and lean toward the arts, you can't go wrong with a show or play, art date, or taking a stroll in a park to enjoy nature. Doing something your date is interested in allows them to feel comfortable and confident so that you can get to know their personality better. TIP 3: Plan activities that will allow conversation to flow freely and spark interesting topics to talk about.

TIP 4: The purpose of a first date is to get to know the person and decide if you are interested in going on follow up dates, and then potentially having a relationship. You don't need to feel obligated to spend a lot of money on the first date. Something as simple as a lunch date will achieve this purpose. Once you have decided you have an interest in dating this person again, planning dates that are more costly aren't as risky of an investment.

TIP 5: Avoid going to an expensive restaurant for dinner. Though this may seem flattering and the ideal, this puts a lot of pressure on your date to act with perfection. It is also makes your date feel akward when choosing a menu item. They may want an expensive item but don't want to come off a certain way, so they struggle if they should order a different menu item the may not even want just to be considerate. Your date may also be thinking too much about what they look like eating in front of you or the quantity of how much they eat. On the first date you want your date to feel relaxed and comfortable so that you can really get to know their true personality. This does not create the ideal situation. Choose to make dinner together instead. It is much more interactive and less formal which makes conversation come more naturally.
